Everything you need to know about Programmable Art. Can't find your answer? Get in touch.
Programmable Art is an algorithmic art platform that creates unique sunrise paintings from real astronomical data. A human-coded algorithm (SOL) shapes each piece using the actual position of the sun — its altitude and azimuth — for a specific city and date. No AI is used — this is hand-crafted code, not machine learning.
No. SOL is algorithmic art: a real person wrote the code that generates each painting. The algorithm uses real astronomical data as input and produces art through deterministic, human-designed logic. No AI, no machine learning, no neural networks — just code and math.
Choose a city and a date. My SOL algorithm calculates the sun's exact position at sunrise for that location and moment, then uses that data to generate a one-of-a-kind painting. No two combinations produce the same result.
Yes. Because each artwork is derived from real solar coordinates tied to a specific place and time, every piece is mathematically distinct. Even neighboring cities or consecutive days will produce visibly different compositions.
Programmable Art was created by Cory Haber, an algorithmic artist and software engineer who builds at the intersection of code and visual art. You can reach us anytime via our contact page.
Yes — generating artwork on Programmable Art is completely free. You only pay if you decide to order a museum-quality print.
You can generate a sunrise for any city or location in the world. As long as we can determine its coordinates, my SOL algorithm will calculate the sun's position and create your artwork.
Absolutely. You can choose any date — past, present, or future. Commemorate a birthday, anniversary, or any day that matters to you.
After generating a piece, click the save button to add it to your personal gallery. You'll need a free account to save and revisit your artworks.
Prints are available in three sizes: 22"×30" ($300), 30"×40" ($650), and 40"×55" ($1,200).
Every print is a museum-quality giclée on archival paper, produced with pigment-based inks for vivid color and long-lasting durability. Prints are shipped unframed.
Orders typically arrive within 7–14 business days. You'll receive a tracking number once your print ships.
Yes, we ship worldwide. International delivery times may vary depending on your location.
Because each print is produced to order, we can only accommodate changes or cancellations within 24 hours of purchase. Please contact us as soon as possible.
You can explore, generate art, and even place orders as a guest — no account required. You only need a free account if you want to save artworks to your personal gallery.
